Example: moving from warehouse work into administration

Illustrative example — not your personal result

A possible next move: Administrator

This example assumes someone has confirmed stock-control, teamwork and attention-to-detail skills, and wants to explore office work. Your own plan depends on the answers and skills you confirm.

What could transfer?

Checking stock records can provide evidence of accuracy. Working with colleagues can provide examples of teamwork. Explain what you actually did rather than claiming office experience you do not have.

What might need practice?

If not already confirmed: Microsoft Office, data entry and written communication. A basic spreadsheet exercise could help you test your confidence; a paid course is not automatically necessary.

Your next three moves could be

  1. Compare administrator duties with tasks you have already done.
  2. Build one skill, such as entering and checking data in a spreadsheet.
  3. Update your CV with a genuine example, then check it against your target role.

Your generated plan also includes a career score, role information and relevant training suggestions. These are guidance, not a guarantee of eligibility, salary or employment.

A clearer next step for people doing the everyday work

ApplyWell focuses on UK frontline workers who want to progress but need a clearer route. Our career planner connects possible next jobs with skills and training, while our CV checker and paid support help turn genuine experience into stronger applications.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What do you need from me to get started?

Your current CV if you have one, the types of roles you want, and any important background such as a career change, employment gap or specific vacancy you want to target.

What does ATS-friendly mean?

It means the CV is structured and written so applicant tracking systems can read the content clearly, while still being easy for a human recruiter to scan.

Can you help if I want to change career?

Yes. The CV can be repositioned around transferable skills, achievements and the requirements of the new role rather than simply repeating your previous job titles.

Do you guarantee interviews or a job?

No responsible CV service can guarantee a hiring outcome. ApplyWell Careers improves the quality, clarity and targeting of the application so you are presenting yourself more effectively.

Can you tailor my CV to a specific vacancy?

Yes. Vacancy-specific tailoring can be included in the relevant package or added when you have a role you want to target.

A starting focus: warehouse and logistics

From doing the job to taking more responsibility

Warehouse operative → team leader → supervisor

An example to explore, not a fixed ladder. Job titles overlap between employers. Compare responsibilities, pay and entry requirements in real vacancies.

Use the career planner with your current role, or check your CV against the warehouse team-leader benchmark.

Build evidence before buying a course

Look for opportunities to support new starters, improve handovers or help resolve stock discrepancies. Ask your manager what extra responsibility you can take on safely.

Record what you did and the result. Claim supervision, licences and qualifications only when you genuinely have them.

Create my Career Plan
Do I need management experience to start?

No. You can explore a first team-leader or supervisory move from your current role. Helping colleagues or organising tasks may provide relevant evidence, but it is not the same as formally managing a team. We keep that distinction clear.

Is ApplyWell only for warehouse workers?

No. Warehouse and logistics progression is a starting focus, with support for retail, care and other frontline roles. You can still explore the full role database and use our CV services for other career goals.

Do I have to pay for a course to progress?

Not necessarily. A next step may involve workplace experience, employer training or an apprenticeship. Check actual vacancy requirements before paying for a course; training fees are separate from ApplyWell’s CV packages.
